I have tried many brands over the years. Galaxy paper is the best for performance and value. The range of grits means I can chase any smoothness level I need. I use Galaxy paper in support of the hand plane work that I do.
I am a very amateur hobby woodworker, and purchased the galaxy sanding discs based on their appearance - I thought they were mesh discs, when very clearly, by both their description AND their price point, they weren't. They do last longer than the traditional sandpaper discs, but I have become very used to using the mesh discs and so they are not in the same category.
