Automotive sanding without dust

Save Time and Money With a Dust-Free Solution

A dust-free workplace is one of the most important ways of reducing the risk of occupational diseases. Dust is a natural by-product of sanding, but it doesn't belong in the workplace air or in your lungs - it belongs in the dust extractor bag, where it can be safely deposited.

The benefits of dust-free sanding aren't just improved health and reduced risks, but also improved bottom-line results.

Removing dust is the best choice for making your workplace more efficient. A dust-free environment reduces time to completion, meaning fewer man-hours for you. Then, you can focus on what is essential: spending more time on the refinishing itself.

Collision Repair - Paint Process with Galaxy

The fast cut of Mirka's new Galaxy abrasive is well suited for removing paint, feathering paint edges, smoothing body filler and blending paint in a collision repair process, thanks to the wide range of grits. For every step of the refinishing process, there is a suitable Galaxy solution.

  • Panel Beating & Repair Processes

At times, a car panel cannot be simply replaced, it must be repaired to remove traces of collision damage. For a professional body shop, the repair process must be efficient and effective, so that a high quality end result and customer satisfaction are reached while saving time and resources.

Mirka’s Panel Beating products include power tools and abrasives for body shop professionals.

  • Removing Paint

After inspecting damage and choosing the correct steps for the panel beating process, paint must be removed from the repair area before the damaged metal is pulled straight. Mirka abrasives are well suited for removing and feathering paint in collision repair and refinishing processes.

  • Post Paint Process

When removing orange peel, scratches and other imperfections requires a damp sanding and polishing process, Mirka abrasives, tools and compounds have an especially good chance to shine. With Mirka's fine grit abrasives, ergonomic tools, supplies and water-based polishes, automotive paint can reach a flawless condition using simple and easy processes.

The finer grits of Mirka Galaxy work especially well in rectifying imperfections in automotive refinishing. In the post-paint process, working together with fine Mirka Abralon grits and Mirka Polarshine compounds, you can go for a true high-quality finish.

  • Step 1: Clear Coat Sanding

Fit an Interface Pad onto the sander backing pad.

Start sanding the clear coat with Galaxy 1500 grit. Keep speed at 7000 rpm.

  • Step 2: Sand the surface structure

Sand the surface structure to the required level. Wipe the surface clean.

  • Step 3: Damp Sanding

Move to damp sanding the surface with Mirka Abralon.

Use Abralon in 3000 grit. Spray water on both the abrasive and the surface. Sand at 7000 rpm. Wipe the surface clean when done.

NOTE: Remember to turn off the Dust Extractor when damp sanding.

  • Step 4: Polish

Use Mirka ARP-B 300NV or Mirka AROP-B 312NV Cordless Polisher to polish.

    For light colours:

Apply Polarshine 12 Polishing Compound with Mirka Yellow Waffle Pad, and polish at 1500 rpm.

    For dark colours:

Use Polarshine 45 compound with Mirka Yellow Lambswool Polishing pad. Next use Polarshine 12 Black Polishing Compound with a Mirka yellow waffle Pad. Finish with Polarshine 5 Polishing Compound, and Mirka Black Waffle Polishing Pad.
