Mirka Abralon Foam Abrasive Disc is a versatile sanding disc designed for use on both smooth and contoured surfaces. Its innovative flexible structure minimises the possibility of pressure marks while enabling the creation of a smooth sanding pattern on sloped surfaces and edges.
Mirka Abralon abrasive disks feature a hook-and-loop soft sponge backing and are ideal for use by hand, on 125mm random orbital sanders or with rotary tools for the fine sanding of timber, application of oil finishes, and the refinement and polishing of glass, composites, metal and painted surfaces. Abralon is manufactured by bonding silicone carbide abrasive grains to flexible knitted fabric backed by a soft foam.
The foam substrate allows the disc to conform to the profile of the surface it is finishing. Coupled with a light touch, this allows the user to finish complexly profiled, curved or crisp edges without erasing detail or losing intricate features. Additionally, its supremely hard carbide cutting grains give Abralon excellent durability regardless of the material it is used on. In addition to the very fine finishing of timber, the automotive sector uses Abralon to prepare surfaces and to cut back during the final stages of painting. Used with Abranet SIC NS and Polarshine polishing compound, we can also recommend Abralon as a glass cutting and polishing product. Its fine grains are also well suited to finishing and polishing epoxies, resins and composites such as carbon fibre.
Since the flexible weave lets water and air to flow freely, sanding is cleaner and the abrasive lasts longer. Ideal for finishing before polishing and for fine sanding of profiled surfaces. Recommended for wet sanding, Abralon features a hook-and-loop soft sponge backing, ideal for use by hand, on 125mm random orbital sanders or with rotary tools for the fine sanding of timber, application of oil finishes, and the refinement and polishing of glass, composites, metal and painted surfaces.
Thanks to its foam and fabric-based construction, Abralon can be used in either dry or wet sanding applications. The abrasives can also be cleaned after use in water.
